Actor Cameron Diaz and her musician husband Benji Madden of Good Charlotte have welcomed their first child, a baby daughter.
In a rad plot twist …
Cameron shared this unexpected and exciting news on Instagram a few hours ago.
It’s suggested that the pair may have used a surrogate to add to their family, but we don’t know that for a fact. This theory is based on recent appearances where Cameron did not appear to be pregnant.
“Happy New Year from the Maddens!” Cameron posted on Instagram with the comments on her post switched off, presumably to nip any nasty chatter and discussion of her new daughter in the bud from the get-go.
Benji followed suit, posting the exact same update, again with comments disabled, again, probably to prevent trolling and negativity around this celebratory event.
“We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden,” the post continued.
“She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
The couple explained that they would be raising their daughter away from the media spotlight.
“While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy, so we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD.”
“From our family to all of yours, we’re sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade.”
Cam and Benji started dating in 2014 and got married in 2015.
They begin 2020 as a clearly very chuffed family of three, but we’re not quite sure exactly when their baby arrived. We’re guessing some time in December.
Baby Raddix’s name might just have been chosen so that the wee girl could be nicknamed “Rad” and is a perfect illustration of the increasing trend to use baby names with the letters “X” or “Z” in them.
