“Who said the third child was easiest?!” an exhausted Carrie Bickmore asks

Carrie and partner Chris Walker welcomed baby Adelaide back in December, and The Project co-anchor’s Instagram account has been dotted with delightful baby spam ever since.

Tricky, tricky, tricky

That said, Carrie’s keen to share some realistic, from-the-trenches thoughts on parenting as well, with a recent post revealing that baby number three has been quite the (unexpected) big adjustment.

Carrie is mum to eleven-year-old Ollie and three-year-old Evie as well as her baby daughter. Young Addie’s now two months old, and in a recent post, Carrie admitted that it’s been a bit of a challenge settling the tiniest member of their family in.

“I think it’s fair to say the past 9 weeks have been some of the trickiest of our parenting life,” Carrie wrote alongside the most adorable photo of her new baby girl.

“Reflux, feeding challenges, little people dealing with the new world order, school holidays, did I mention school holidays, sleep deprivation, the list goes on but we are getting there.”

“Dad’s been amazing,” Carrie continued. “Kids have been incredible, and mum’s been a bloody rockstar. Who said the third child was easiest?!!”

“My third child was the hardest!”

Carrie’s followers were quick to chime in, supportively sharing their own third baby struggles.

“My third child was the hardest!” one posted. “Just got him off to school this year and there were many days I thought I wouldn’t make it!”

“Everyone said to me third child is easy because they have to be – so not true!” another follower wrote.

“Number 3 wasn’t easy but number 4 is,” one mum posted knowingly.

“The 3rd kid is the most easy going once they get a little bit older as they just have to fit into your busy world,” someone else reassured.

Who said the third child was easiest!!?Thankyou to all the people who reached out on insta and reminded me to stop and sniff her little head, stare into her eyes, cuddle her and enjoy the middle of the night feeds because it goes so fast. It really does. If you are in the middle of it all yourself, you are not alone ❤️

The days are long but the years are short

That said, the mum-of-three was quick to confirm she was still super focused on cherishing these early days as much as possible.

Carrie thanked her followers for the constant prompts to stop and smell the roses … or Addie’s sweet-smelling baby head, at least!

“Thank you to all the people who reached out on insta,” she wrote, “and reminded me to stop and sniff her little head, stare into her eyes, cuddle her and enjoy the middle of the night feeds because it goes so fast. It really does. If you are in the middle of it all yourself, you are not alone.”

Sending love, strength and eight hours uninterrupted sleep vibes in your direction, CB!

PS: Note that Carrie also shared this brilliant pair of “expectation vs reality” shots and we could not love her more for it. Especially for photo number two!
