The Bachelor’s Matty J and Laura Byrne welcome a baby together
Engaged Bachie stars Matty “J” Johnson and Laura Byrne have become parents, taking to Instagram yesterday to share their lovely news.
“Welcome to the world”
The couple’s daughter arrived on Wednesday and her freshly minted mum and dad are understandably elated.
“Welcome to the world you divine little slice of human pudding,” Laura captioned her birth announcement on Insta. “Marlie-Mae Rose Johnson (named after our Nanas) you’re more than we could have ever hoped for. 19.6.19.”
Matty was pretty chuffed too, sharing a couple of shots of his expanded family and some thoughts on the birth.
“Still letting the last 24hrs sink in … they’ve been the most rewarding, loving and emotional I’ve ever experienced,” he wrote in his jubilant update.
“[Laura] you did the most incredible job bringing our little girl Marlie-Mae Rose Johnson into the world. Becoming a Dad was better than I ever could have imagined.”

Hanging in there
The couple had been tracking Laura’s pregnancy on Instagram, noting a couple of weeks ago that they were ready and waiting for their one. Turns out Marlie-Mae had other ideas and was not quite ready to be born.
“I have sincerely really loved being pregnant. Except for this last week, it’s been farrrked. Pretty sure I’m giving birth to a toddler,” Laura posted on Wednesday as her overdue baby hung in there at 41 weeks and three days. That very same day the wee girl finally emerged to meet her thrilled mum and dad.
Other Bachie alumni were very excited about Marlie-Mae’s arrival too.
“She is absolutely beautiful! My heart is melting! Congratulations to the three of you,” Jarrod Woodgate posted.
“She is so perfect and I’m feeling all the feels and I’m so happy for you and so proud!!! Congrats honey and @matthewdavidjohnson,” recent Bachelor in Paradise star Florence wrote.
“Omg! Congrats you two. Marlie-Mae is perfect,” Alex Nation commented.
Huge congrats to this cute couple on Marlie-Mae’s arrival. She’s a beaut!!
