The utterly adorable kids’ show, Bluey has quickly won the hearts of Australians, young and old and continues to rise in popularity. But now there’s more good news. The much-loved series is set to be released on DVD – and with Christmas just around the corner, the timing could not be better.

Which episodes are available?

Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and BBC Studios are delighted to announce that Bluey, will be available to own on DVD from 30th October 2019.

“We are thrilled to be releasing Bluey on DVD and delighted with the feedback and support from retailers,” says Cindy McCulloch, Director of Marketing and Corporate Strategy, Universal Sony Pictures.

The highly anticipated first two DVD releases will be Bluey: Magic Xylophone and Other Stories (Vol 1) and Bluey: Horsey Ride and Other Stories (Vol 2). And this is just the beginning. Fans will be happy to learn that Bluey: The Pool and Other Stories (Vol 3) to be released on 4th December and Bluey: Grannies and Other Stories (Vol 4) on 8th January, 2020.

A rising star

Bluey has been totally embraced by families everywhere and is currently the number one children’s series of 2019 on metro broadcast television in Australia. Not only that, it recently picked up the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Children’s Program and has just been nominated for an International Kids Emmy.

And it’s not hard to see why. Bluey follows the adventures of a lovable and inexhaustible six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy who lives with her dad, mum and four-year-old little sister, Bingo. The stories are quirky yet genuine and relatable – to be honest, at home we feel like we are watching our own family on the screen. The Pool is a particular favourite of mine – and probably for any mum who is always the one to remember all the ‘boring’, yet essential and much-needed items needed for a family outing.

In every episode, Bluey uses her limitless Blue Heeler energy to play elaborate games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family and the whole neighbourhood into her world of fun. It’s a delight from start to finish and a show that my kids watch over and over again. Let’s face it, my husband and I do too.

Bluey is produced by the Emmy® award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS and is co-commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios. Both series received production support from the Australian Government through Screen Australia and Queensland Government through Screen Queensland.

Christmas is not far away, and Bluey DVDs will make ideal Christmas presents for any dedicated fan of the show. And if there’s any child who has not yet watched Bluey, then you couldn’t choose a better gift.
