“A beautiful connection” — Lachy Wiggle’s very, very happy new relationship
Grown-up fans of The Wiggles – be they OG fans of the band, parents of little Wiggles enthusiasts or just lovers of all things Wiggle-y – will be thrilled to hear an update on Lachlan Gillespie’s relationship status.
A new chapter
Much-loved purple Wiggle Lachy was once married to the yellow Wiggle, Emma Watkins, but their relationship ended in 2018 (much to many fans’ distress!)
Luckily Emma and Lachy are every bit as lovely as they seem. They have remained firm friends even though being married wasn’t the best fit for them.
A year and half or so down the track Lachy’s not had to go very far to find love again.
He’s now happily spending time with ballerina Dana Stephensen, the pair meeting when Dana was invited to work with The Wiggles several months after Lachy and Emma’s separation.
Dana’s a super-talented senior ballerina with The Australian Ballet and mum to a four-year-old little boy named Jasper.
“A really beautiful connection”
Dana’s just had a chat with The Daily Telegraph about her brilliant career moves, and she’s also made it clear that she’s all in with Lachy (and he with her!)
“He’s just amazing and I just love him so much,’’ she admitted.
“I remember being really excited to get selected for the filming [with The Wiggles] and to tell Jasper that I was going to work with The Wiggles.”
“Then I walked in and it felt like another world – it was an amazing experience in itself – but Lachy and I just had a really beautiful connection straight away. It was between us, but after the fact quite a few people noticed,” Dana revealed.
As the couple became more serious, Lachy met young Jasper and it apparently went swimmingly. It took a little while for Jasper to twig that his new friend had a pretty high-profile job.
“One day he said to me, ‘Our Yachy wears a purple jumper, mummy, our Yachy is in The Wiggles’,” Dana told The Daily Telegraph.
“Lachy is such a special person for him. He doesn’t tell the other kids at kindy that he’s a Wiggle, he’s just Lachy to him and they have the best fun together – he’s so great with kids and they make up the best games. Every day I am very grateful.”
