It’s official: Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic are having a baby
Television’s golden couple Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic have some exciting news to share and everyone is delighted.
The couple, who married two years ago in a beautiful ceremony in the Southern Highlands of NSW, have not only announced that they’re pregnant – but also the sex of their unborn baby.
It’s a boy!
Sylvia shared their news on Instagram with a stunning photo of the couple, captioned, “We’re having a baby boy and we’re totally over the moon!!” Peter had a similar post on his Instagram account: “Soon to be a family of three and we are rapt! Good thing I’m already match fit with the whole no sleep thing.”
The couple is absolutely beaming with their announcement and have been absolutely flooded with messages of love, congratulations and frenzied excitement.
Everyone loves good news
The couple’s pregnancy is welcome news after last year’s incident when Peter and his brother Karl Stefanovic were overheard criticising their colleagues and bosses from Nine and the conversation was leaked to the media. The two brothers later made a public apology. While Sylvia continues to work at Nine, Peter joined Sky News earlier in the year as co-host of First Edition.
However, this latest announcement has been received with great joy and messages from celebrities and media outlets, letting the couple know how happy they are to hear their news.
“Woohoo!! What glorious news!!” wrote Jessica Rowe, while Lisa Wilkinson said, “About as over the moon as we all are!! What a lucky lucky bub he is. Huge congrats to two of the best. Now the fun really begins!!!”
Natalie Barr commented, “Oh wow!!!! Welcome to the mums-of-boys club Sylvia!!! So very happy for you both.”
The messages go on and on – but nothing beats the size of the happy couple’s excited smiles.
Love at first sight
Sylvia and Peter met about six years ago while hosting the Today show over the Christmas/summer period. And it was pretty much love at first sight.
“We sort of bumped into each other in a car park at Channel 9 one day before we started hosting together … I think it was pretty obvious, certainly was to everyone around me – my mum and my sister, in particular, knew that there was something there,” Sylvia told The Sydney Morning Herald back in 2016.
It’s bound to be love at first sight once again when their baby boy arrives. One thing is certain, life for the busy media couple is going to get a whole busier. But no doubt they’re up for the challenge ahead, delighted to finally have the chance of starting their very own family.
