Baby Wildlife Warrior due! Bindi Irwin’s sweet pregnancy announcement
Crikey, how exciting! Our own Aussie sweetheart and wildlife warrior, Bindi Irwin and her husband, Chandler Powell have announced that they are expecting their first child together in 2021!
It’s safe to say that despite the challenges we’re all facing in 2020, this year is going well for the 22-year-old daughter of the late, great Steve Irwin – Australia’s original ‘croc hunter’ and national legend.
Not only did Bindi tie the knot with her sweetheart, Chandler, only five short months ago at their beloved Australia Zoo in Queensland, she’s now thrilled to be expecting her first mini wildlife warrior.
“We couldn’t wait to share the news”
The loved-up pair took to Instagram to make the happy announcement, sharing the MOST adorable photo of them holding a tiny, baby-sized Australia Zoo shirt, just like Steve’s. Awww!
Bindi also revealed that she is still in the first trimester:
“Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting!” she shared. “It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you. Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives.”
Nervous new mum
And like any freshly-pregnant first-time mama, Bindi is keen to hear any tips and advice from those who’ve gone before her, asking the mums of Instagram for their best advice:
“Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart.”
Chandler doesn’t seem too concerned about how his amazing young wife will handle it, commenting on the post in perfect supportive hubby fashion: “You’re going to be the best mother ❤️”
Bindi’s mum, Terri Irwin also joined in the happy snaps and took to Twitter to express how thrilled she is at her daughter’s news:

Our national treasure
We think it’s safe to say that the rest of Australia is ALMOST as excited by this news as the happy parents-to-be. Our little national treasure is going to be a mum!
We’ve watched Bindi grow from the cheeky and adorable toddler we saw on our TV screens in the ‘90s, and blossom into a strong young woman with a passion to equal her father’s. We’ve shared her heartbreak when she lost her dad in 2006, and her triumphs as she rose up and took on the world with the same fiercely passionate outlook as her father, becoming an ambassador for wildlife and conservation in her own right.
Now, the next exciting chapter has begun for Bindi, and oh my gosh, we are here for it!
We wish Bindi and Chandler all the best on this amazing new journey to parenthood. 2021 is looking up already!
