Okay, these are not quadruplets, but twins with birthday cake replicas of themselves. Stay with us because this is amazing.

Self-taught baker

Lara Mason is a cake-creating genius AND a mum to two little girls called Lyla and Lily. Lara’s spent the last six years perfecting the art of cakes, so when her daughters were due to turn one she pulled out all the stops to celebrate their big day.

Lara – who taught herself to bake like this through YouTube – crafted a replica of each little girl, surpassing all expectations from the family and friends.

“I’ve been making these cakes of people for the last few years and was under a lot of pressure with what I would do for my own girls’ first birthday cake,” Lara told People Magazine. “I also knew I wanted to do a cake smash because I just think they’re so cute. Then it came to me — why don’t I combine the two?”

She said her daughters greeted their cake-twins with bewilderment, followed by giggles and a lot of delighted snacking.

“At first they were a little confused … I don’t think that they ever got that they were actually cakes. I think they thought they were dolls, so they just wanted to play with them. Then they started eating the hair bows!” Lara laughs.

100 hours of TLC

The cakes took a whopping 100 hours to create, with each using 44 eggs, more than 3 kilograms of chocolate and a whole heap of flour, butter and sugar.

“The hardest part was the hair, as it was made from individual strands of pulled sugar,” Lara admitted. “I tried as best as I could to make them look like the girls, they aren’t perfect but I was pretty happy with how they turned out.”

We’d be deliriously happy too, because one of them looks like Mary-Kate Olsen. Or Ashley Olsen. One of them looks like one of those Full House baby twins.

The cakes are currently sitting in Lara’s back room, because the babies were too excited to eat them. This genius baker says she’s not keen to portion them up, for obvious reasons.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to bring myself to cut them, it’s my own kids! But we go to a few cake shows each year, so I might take it with me to put on display,” Lara says.

Delicious doppelgängers

Now, as much as we love Lara’s twin cakes, we can not stop watching this vision of her creating three other cakes – Ed Sheeran, Celine Dion and Jamiroquai.

She really is an artist and calls on the skills of a sculptor, painter and engineer to pull these gobsmacking creations together. Ah-mazing.

Watch and learn – and prepare for your jaw to drop.
