A US mum-of-two Becca Kinsey was attempting to board a plane with her overstimulated, overtired children when three brilliant women stepped in to save the day. Hooray!
“Make a difference”
She’s just shared her story on Facebook – to the delight of over 120 000 people – and hopes it will encourage others to offer similar kindnesses to strangers.
Speaking to NBC News, Becca said being a good human takes so very little effort that there’s really no excuse NOT to reach out.
“You don’t need to do something big and grand to make a difference, sometimes you can just hold the door open,” she said.
Becca had been to Disney World with two-year-old Wyatt and five-year-old James. She travelled without her hubby (who had just started a new job) and while the trip there went off without a hitch, the return trip was more ‘eventful’.
As Becca misplaced her ID, she was directed to the wrong part of the airport and was running out of time to make it through security and get to the right gate, she and her kiddos became more and more anxious.

“On the verge of tears”
In her now-viral update, Becca explained that other women had her back as things looked like they were set to turn even more pear-shaped.
“We were standing in line in security, on the verge of tears because Wyatt was screaming and James was exhausted. Out of the blue, one mom stops the line for security and says ‘here, jump in front of me! I know how it is!’,” Becca recalled.
“Wyatt fell asleep and I was trying to carry everyone’s carry-on when another mom jumps out of her place in line and says ‘hand me everything, I’ve got it’.”
So I thought it was a good idea to fly by myself with a 2 yr old and a 5 year old ? we were standing in line in…
“When I said thank you to both of them they said ‘don’t you worry, we’re going to make sure you get on that flight’,” Becca continued. “The second woman takes evvvverything and helps me get it through security and, on top of all that, she grabs all of it and walks us to the gate to make sure we get on the flight. To top it all off, Wyatt starts to scream at take off before he finally falls back to sleep.”
“After about 45 min, this angel [pictured below] comes to the back and says ‘you look like you need a break’ and holds Wyatt for the rest of the flight AND walks him all the way to baggage claim, hands him to blake, hugs me and says ‘Merry Christmas!!,'” the grateful mum wrote on Facebook.
“An absolute angel”
Commenters on the post loved the heck out of Becca’s story – as we do, too! – and were keen to share their thoughts.
“The lady holding the baby, is an absolute angel,” one woman posted. “I used to be married to her brother and she’s an incredible mom and sister!” #nawww!
“This is amazing!” another mum commented. “I regularly fly with my 2 and 3-year-old sons and unfortunately I’m never that lucky … all I get is dirty looks and comments. People don’t seem to understand how hard it really is … It’s lovely to see that there are actually people who understand and are willing to help.”
“When me and my husband travelled to Bangladesh with our three children (then 9 months, almost 2 and almost 4),” someone else posted on Becca’s update, “we had been held up and were travelling for hours and hours they were getting tired but we had the 3 children plus 5 hand luggages. A lovely lady and her husband offered to carry our 2-year-old and even took her to sit with her for the quick lunch they provided as there were hardly any seats. We were very thankful.”
PROOF that there are brilliant people out there who are keen to step in and lend a hand for a stranger when it matters most. Bless them. Be like them!
