Purple Wiggle Lachy Gillespie announces engagement!
Wiggles fans! Here’s something to cheer up our (mostly grim) newsfeed …
We already know that purple Wiggle, Lachy Gillespie is madly in love with girlfriend, Dana Stephensen. After meeting the accomplished ballerina on The Wiggles‘ set not long after his very public breakup with yellow Wiggle, Emma Watkins, the pair have gone from strength to strength, declaring their love in quite a few cute updates and interviews since they went public with their relationship last October.
And now they’ve taken it to the next level with two very sweet announcements on their Instagram accounts yesterday. Hold onto your hats, a very Wiggly wedding is on the way! Hooray!
Who asked who?
It turns out, rather than the traditional boy-asks-girl scenario, Lachy and Dana decided to do things a little differently – they BOTH proposed!
Sharing a beaming photo of their loved-up little family that includes Dana’s four-year-old son, Jasper, Lachy announced: “On Thursday night, Dana asked me to marry her at home under a fairy light sky and a very excited little boy in a beautiful bow tie ✨”
And just a couple of hours later, Dana posted another cute update revealing that this was actually a THREE way proposal: “At the end of our summer holidays, I walked into the most beautiful surprise – a room filled with the most incredible flowers and Lachy singing at his piano and then asking me to marry him. It was such a surprise and so special. Our faces say it all.
“It was something very meaningful for us to both have the opportunity to propose to one another, each in our own way. Last week, with the most beautiful (and excited!) little boy by my side in a special bow tie, it was our time to ask Lachy our special question – and it was so, so wonderful 💕💕”

“Every day I am very grateful”
The photos suggest that Lachy is now living with Dana and Jasper during this period of social isolation due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Little Jasper must be over the moon to have “our Yachy” at home with him – his mum confirmed recently that Jasper adores his new friend: “Lachy is such a special person for him … they have the best fun together – he’s so great with kids and they make up the best games. Every day I am very grateful.”
We wish Lachy, Dana and Jasper all the best as they forge ahead as a happy family unit, and we can’t WAIT for all those Wiggly wedding pics! Yay!
