Baby Bird
Jess and her hubby Eric’s second daughter arrived on 19 March weighing a tick under 5 kilograms. The 4.9kg cutie is happy and healthy, but her mama has been through the wringer.
“We are so happy and proud to announce the birth of our perfect daughter, Birdie Mae Johnson,” Jess posted on Instagram in the wake of the birth.
Jess’s pregnancy was plagued by uncomfortable swelling, indigestion, insomnia and a serious dose of bronchitis which landed the expectant mum in hospital. Now she’s on the other side of all that, but dealing with a painful c-section recovery.
“No joke!”
“Recovering from a C-Section is no joke! I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister,” Jess posted alongside a photo of her cuties – six-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew and five-year-old Ace Knute (pronounced Ka-Noot).
“I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery. Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife.”
“Thanks for always being so real!”
Jess’s followers were thrilled that she wasn’t carrying on about ‘bouncing back’. That’s not to say they didn’t wish her the very best and speediest of recoveries, but more that they were relieved she was continuing to keep it real and share the hard parts of growing and birthing little humans.
“OMG, love you for this. Just had a c-section too and it’s so frustrating that people forget you just had major major surgery [and are now] taking care of a newborn,” one follower posted.
“Preach. Mom of two c-section babies here. People actually said to me that I ‘got off easy’ by having a c-section,” another fan wrote.
“C-section is def no joke! The pain afterwards is crazy. Thanks for always being so real!!!” someone else commented gratefully.
We wish Jess the very best recovery – and love her for sharing the tough times AND the cheery bits.
