What were you doing between 4:50am and 4:59am on Saturday night?

All six babies born in less than nine minutes

Whatever it was (and hopefully it was sleeping) we doubt it was as eventful as Houston woman Thelma Chiaka, who gave birth to six babies in under nine minutes.

Yes, in less time than it takes to walk around your neighbourhood block, Thelma safely birthed one set of girl twins and two sets of boy twins.

Amazing!

Apparently the odds of this happening are 1 in 4.7 billion. And you’d be statistically more likely to get struck by lightning twice or win the lottery than having six healthy births in such a short space of time.

Thelma delivered her babies at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas where all six babies are reported to be happy, safe and stable.

As extraordinary as Thelma’s birth story is, hers will not make the record for most babies born.

That award goes to Nadia Suleman, AKA Ocotomum, who gave birth to eight babies back in 2009 when she was just 33 years old.

Extra care needed for all six babies

All babies were born weighing between 1 pound 12 ounces to 2 pounds and 14 ounces.

Apparently, all six babies will stay in the neonatal intensive care ward for several weeks.

Thelma has named her two daughters, Zina and Zuriel but, as yet, has not named her sons.

No doubt all the names will be revealed in time.

For now, Thelma has enough to do!
