It’s a whirlwind of royal-related news at the mo with news just in that Duchess Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton has welcomed her first baby – a first cousin for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

“Everyone is delighted”

Pippa and banker husband James Matthews were seen lugging overnight bags into London’s St Mary’s Hospital on Monday, the new mum apparently in labour and preparing to deliver at the facility’s famous Lindo Wing.

A spokesperson for the couple revealed their baby BOY was born “Monday at 1.58pm London time, weighing 3.88 kilograms,” The Age says. “Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well.”

We don’t know much more about this little one as yet, but expect a name reveal will be imminent, and possibly a photo considering the public profile Pippa cultivates.

Bookies are taking bets on the name Pippa and James might choose for their tot. In order of likelihood, they suggest: Michael, Alexander, William, Joseph, James, Frederick, Thomas, Oliver, Peter, Ronald and Spencer.

Kensington Palace has released a statement with Kate and William’s response to the new little arrival noting, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James.”

More on Kate and Pippa:

A very well pregnancy

The energetic Pippa had modelled a very well pregnancy, working out right up until the birth – and turning up at Princess Eugenie’s wedding just 3 days before she delivered her new son.

“I was lucky to pass the 12-week scan without suffering from morning sickness,” Pippa wrote of her pregnancy in the column she pens for Waitrose Magazine. “That meant I was able to carry on as normal and continue my sports.”

Of course, Pippa’s sister Kate famously did not have the same luck. She became incredibly ill during all three of her pregnancies, suffering from the acute pregnancy illness hyperemesis gravidarum, even being hospitalised for treatment.

“What lies ahead”

More recently Pippa admitted pregnancy was beginning to take a physical toll.

“The transformations to my body that are taking place as it prepares for childbirth have meant that the sound sleeps and the baby bubble effect have gone,” she wrote. “Reality is finally kicking in. Perhaps this is the body’s way of making sure that you get in tune with what lies ahead.”

Pippa married James in May 2017, the culmination of a one-year engagement, and the pair honeymooned in Australia.

Four days of big news

This birth caps off several days of very momentous royal news:

Princess Eugenie – daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York – was married to Jack Brooksbank on Friday.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ new cousin (Pippa’s baby!) was born on Monday.

AND The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they too were expecting a baby, on Monday night.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – aka Meghan and Harry – are currently on tour in Australia so expect many more royal goings-on over the next couple of weeks.
