First photos: Hilary Duff just got married and her dress was perfection
Hilary Duff has surprised fans of Lizzie McGuire and Younger … by getting married on the weekend!
Sunset ceremony
Yup. Hilary and her baby daddy Matthew Koma have tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the pair’s LA home.
The couple are parents to a one-year-old daughter named Banks Violet and Hilary’s mum to an eight-year-old son, Luca.
They announced their engagement in May of this year and appear to have been sneakily planning this private wedding ever since.
“The wedding was at her house. It was small and low-key. Only family and close friends,” People magazine explains.
“The ceremony started at sunset and they got married inside the house. When the ceremony was over, guests cheered. The reception was in a white tent in the backyard. Her sister Haylie was very involved in the wedding prep too.”
Sleek but striking
Hilary herself has revealed a little more of how she chose her simple, structured Jennie Packham dress.
“I sat down with my stylist, Jessica Paster, and we went through many designers and looked at their aesthetics, and together we settled on Jenny,” she told Vogue.
“There’s a very modern shoulder. When we were coming up with the design, it was important to me that it was striking but simple. I couldn’t imagine wearing a big fluffy dress.”
“I really want to feel like myself, but also how I envisioned he would see me,” Hilary said of her final frock decision.
“The end result … is exactly how I wanted him to see me. I think it’s how he would envision what I would look like as a bride. It’s really special.”
Personal touches
Hilary had her and Matt’s initials and the date of their wedding stitched into the dress. Banks’ and Luca’s initials were also embroidered into the skirt.
The bride’s accessories included a boxy clutch emblazoned with the wedding date and shoes with ‘Wifey’ printed on the soles.
Baby Banks also wore a Jenny Packham dress, made to match her mum’s complete with giant bow and pink velvet ribbon.
We’re not sure what young Luca wore, as yet, but suspect there is a big magazine spread on this event in production already so we’ll find out then. Or Hilary might share more photos. #HighlyLikely
“For the rest of forever”
The couple shared first photos of the wedding complete with adorable captions.
“For the rest of forever… 12.21.19,” Matthew wrote.
