Two of the littlest royals – six-year-old Prince George and four-year-old Princess Charlotte – have delighted royal watchers with their appearance at The Kings’ Cup Regatta alongside their mum Duchess Kate and their dad Prince William (aka the actual future King!)

Nautical littlies

Dressed in matching stripes George and Charlotte went full nautical for this highly anticipated event, hanging out with their grandparents Carole and Mike Middleton as mum and dad got on with the job at hand.

Charlotte wore a striped Ralph Lauren dress with a snappy Peter Pan collar, with George in a stripey H&M polo and preppy belted shorts.

The stripes were not the only thing that was matching, with the popular youngsters both sporting very cute and cheeky grins.

George proudly popped Captain’s hat on his noggin to fully look the part and honestly we’re very much into it. The little prince also revealed he’s lost his two front teeth.

Charlotte also took things up a notch with the kid pro move of poking her tongue out at spectators when Kate asked her to give them a little wave.

“Totally reminds me of Prince William and Prince Harry at that age,” a Twitter user posted.

“That girl is HILARIOUS. Love her,” another royal fan posted.

“Typical response of a 4 year old! Love it!” someone else wrote.

But not everyone thought Charlotte’s behaviour was acceptable.

“That’s not cheeky, that’s rude and she needs to be disciplined, it’s bad enough an average child does it, she’s supposed to be royalty, the mother should have reprimanded her instead of laughing,” one humourless commenter wrote.

“Oh dear, that’s not cheeky, its disrespectful,” an Instagram user wrote.

“Very disrespectful and not the first time she has done it. Yes she is 4 years old and by that age should be behaving with better manners. Especially when her mothers tells her to wave,” someone else agreed.

The wooden spoon

It was all in outdoorsy British fun as Kate and William went head-to-head in the charity regatta alongside some other celebrities including Bear Gryls (who won!)

William was sailing to benefit Child Bereavement UK while the Duchess on behalf of the Royal Foundation.

Looking very sporty and tanned after a summer family holiday, the couple sailed in competing boats with William’s team thrashing Kate’s.

The Duchess was awarded the wooden spoon, which she accepted in good humour.

“It’s the taking part that counts…🥄” Kensington Palace’s Instagram account pointed out.

“Their Royal Highnesses hope that The King’s Cup will become an annual event, bringing greater awareness to the wider benefits of sport, whilst also raising support and funds for the causes that The Duke and Duchess support,” the palace said.

We’re all for more stripes, spoons and cheeky kids, to be honest. Bring it on!
