“In a fragile place” Prince William is worried for new parents Meghan and Harry
This week a new documentary aired focusing on Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s trip to Africa.
“You are really vulnerable”
In Harry & Meghan: An African Journey we learned that the new royal parents have been finding life incredibly challenging as the British press continue to publish critical stories of the pair.
Harry revealed that the reported “rift” with his brother is no biggie and just the usual family stuff and that coping with his mother’s death isn’t getting any easier describing it as a “festering wound”.
“Inevitably stuff happens”, Harry said when asked about William, explaining they were on different paths at the moment. “We are brothers. We will always be brothers.”
Meghan explained she was pretty overwhelmed and unprepared for the campaign waged against her by the press.
“I would say … look any woman, especially when they are pregnant, you are really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging,” she told ITV‘s Tom Bradby tearily.
“And then when you have a newborn, you know? And especially as a woman it’s really, it’s really a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed …”
She also said that her British friends had warned her off marrying Harry because the press would destroy her life.
“In a fragile place”
What was the response from the other stiff upper lip royals to these very candid revelations from Meg and Harry?
Well, the BBC is reporting that Prince William – second in line to the throne and Harry’s brother – is now “worried” about Harry.
A Kensington Palace source has told the BBC that Prince William is hoping the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “are all right” after they told an ITV documentary they were struggling.
“The palace source said there was a view the couple were ‘in a fragile place,'” the BBC reports.
That said, Kensington Palace had made no official comment on the documentary. The Queen is probably very uncomfortable with the couple’s heart-on-sleeve approach.
Smiley Archie
There were some happier moments in this documentary too, it should be noted, and it’s clear that the couple are finding solace in their little boy.
Harry said 5-month-old baby Archie was growing up fast, “making more noise than he ever has before.”
He also said that his son “clearly loves Africa” and that on the flight from England “he was looking out the window. He has found his voice now and he was bouncing up and down.”
“He was making more noise than he has ever made before and he is smiling the whole time.”
Kate and William have just finished their tour of Pakistan, so perhaps these guys will now spend some time together with all their kids and find ways to better support each other. Here’s hoping.
