Drew Barrymore and her ex-husband Will Kopelman are parents to five-year-old Frankie and six-year-old Olive, the couple making no secret of their efforts to co-parent positively.

The graduate

A new photo of them doing just that surfaced over the weekend. It shows Drew and Will squishing their youngest daughter Frankie between a celebratory mum and dad smooch. The family are celebrating Frankie finishing “Group 6” at her kindergarten.

“Graduate,” a proud Will captioned the sweet shot of the excited trio (which is nothing short of adorable!)

Drew and Will married in 2013 and broke up in 2016. Their divorce was finalised later that year with the mum-of-two admitting she felt like “a failure”.

It’s clear that she is far from that, championing co-parenting pretty jubilantly and going from strength to strength in her career and personal life.

“The best co-parents we can be”

Drew says she has to pinch her herself sometimes.

“Will and I continue to marvel at what we made and try to be the best co-parents we can be,” she told US Weekly late last year.

“It’s not always easy and the point is…nothing in life is. But it doesn’t mean that any bitter outweighs the sweet!”

Drew says modelling positive behaviour is top-of-mind in her parenting game, after enduring an unconventional and fairly traumatic childhood herself.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres about how she approaches life with her girls, she said this positivity and security is at the heart of her family’s life.

“It really is about the tone you set. And you can talk until you’re blue in the face, but kids watch what you do every single day of your life, all day long, and that behaviour and that example and that love and community and honesty is what’s making everything feel safe for my kids.”

“The dream came true”

People reports that Drew spends lots of time together with Will and her girls … and even goes on holidays with her ex.

“We are a family. Family has a wild definition nowadays. I think we just fit right in!” Drew says.

“Never did I think I would have such a full family. The dream came true. And like all dreams, they are perfectly imperfect! As long as you can be yourself. And celebrate everyone for who they really are!”
