Just when you thought YouTube was becoming a cesspit of nastily doctored Peppa Pig videos, mum-of-two Chrissy Teigen has saved the day!

Cooking with Chrissy

Yesterday CT, her preschool-aged daughter Luna, her baby Miles and her mum Pepper Thai popped up on the popular video platform with a series of family cooking videos which are guaranteed to delight.

The clips were shared as part of the launch of Chrissy’s new foodie website Cravings By Chrissy Teigen and it all seems to be part of a grand plan to become the giggling and “filthy-mouthed” Martha Stewart.

One video shared by Chrissy showed her and Luna making ice-cream in zip lock bags. (NO really!)

They use something called ice-cream salt and Chrissy says she used to do this as a kid all the time.

What does Luna say? Luna says she’d like to pulverise some Oreos please because they’re making cookies and cream flavour. She then proceeds to snack on cookie crumbs for almost the entire video and fair play.

Another clip – one in a brilliant series called Pepper’s Corner – shows Pepper Thai aka Chrissy’s mum cutting up a pomelo to make a fetching hat which she then pops on an unimpressed baby Miles’ head. (NO really!)

Chrissy can be heard off camera chiming in and chortling while Miles winces at the final reveal and tries to indicate he’s not really into bangs.

To be fair, Pepper is kind of the star of these videos. Her delivery is very relaxed and her Papaya Salad looks amazing (especially the bit where son-in-law John Legend pops up) although maybe go a little easier on the chilli if you make this at home.

Chrissy’s fave cookbooks

In another video, Chrissy also takes viewers through some of her favourite cookbooks, making it clear that it’s like choosing favourite children.

The ones she mentioned are …

  1. Sweet by Yotam Ottolenghi & Helen Goh
  2. The Pleasures of Eating Well by Christina Ong
  3. Momofuku by David Chang and Peter Meehan
  4. Jack’s Wife Freda by Dean Jankelowitz and Maya Jankelowitz
  5. Milk Bar Life by Christina Tosi

Happy new website!

And of course, all this excellent foodie hoopla was in honour of Chrissy’s new site, which we took a quick skim over and chose a few favourites for you to explore. (Again, probably like choosing favourite children because unlike some other so-called celebrity chefs, Chrissy Teigen is a great cook as is her mum. And her recipes work. They are on high rotation at my house, in fact!)

Here are some good places to start if you fancy cooking some Cravings-style eats:

YUM!! I can’t wait to get cooking, to be honest!
