OG yellow Wiggle Greg Page suffers cardiac arrest during bushfire benefit gig
Greg Page, The Wiggles’ original yellow Wiggle is in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during last night’s much looked forward to over 18s bushfire benefit gig.
Cardiac arrest
The Sydney gig was sold out with all proceeds being donated to the Australian Red Cross and wildlife support organisation WIRES.
Greg lives with the condition orthostatic intolerance which is a disorder that affects blood flow and it’s thought that this has contributed to his upsetting collapse.
“As has been reported, our friend Greg Page suffered a cardiac arrest at the end of the bushfire relief performance and was taken to hospital. He has had a procedure and is now recovering in hospital. We appreciate your kind messages and concern,” The Wiggles explained in a statement posted to social media earlier today.
Prior to falling ill, Greg was seen singing and dancing as normal on stage with his Wiggles bandmates. He collapsed near the end of the show, which was being live-streamed at the time.
“Thank you everybody. Thanks for coming to support all of those wonderful people doing all that great work for everyone,” Greg says, smiling and waving to the audience.
Collapsed and rushed to hospital
He then walks toward the side of the stage and collapses as support crew run to help him, pulling a curtain for privacy.
Red Wiggle Murray Cook then returns to the stage to clue the audience in on what’s happening.
“Guys I think we’re going to end it there. Greg’s not feeling real well. I think he’s going to be OK but he’s not feeling real well so I don’t think we can go on with another song,” Murray tells the audience.
