Fisher-Price has issued a safety warning for their popular infant rocker
Fisher-Price and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued a warning to parents after a number of babies died in this popular rocker.

Infant rollover risk
In a joint statement, the CPSC and Fisher-Price explained more about the potential risks associated with the use of this baby product, especially in infants that might be learning to roll over.
“The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Fisher-Price warn consumers about the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play due to reports of death when infants roll over in the product,” the statement reads.
“According to medical literature, infants typically begin rollover behaviours at 3 months,” they note.
“The CPSC is aware of 10 infant deaths in the Rock ‘n Play that have occurred since 2015, after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side, while unrestrained. All 10 infants were 3 months or older.”
Use this product carefully
Rather than recalling the Rock ‘n Play, the statement suggests that parents avoid using the product by the time a baby is three months old and to always use the restraint provided. These are recommendations Fisher-Price has published before, but they say that some parents are not following them.
“The reported deaths show that some consumers are still using the product when infants are capable of rolling and without using the three point harness restraint.”
The CPSC and Fisher-Price also sought to remind parents of safe sleeping recommendations.
“Create a safe sleep environment for infants, whether using a crib, bassinet, play yard, or inclined sleeper: Never add blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, or other items to the environment and always place infants to sleep on their backs.”
