7 reasons your baby might be waking through the night
Have a baby, they said. It’ll be fun they said. Well… it often is fun, but much of the time it’s walking through darkened hallways in the dead of night to settle that adorable, upset infant you brought home!
Let’s go back to basics and run through some of the main reasons why your baby is keeping you up at night:
3. Because they're still learning
Newborn babies sleep in varying increments throughout the day and evening. At some point between 3 and 6 months, they might begin to develop a pattern and have 2 or 3 day sleeps. At this time, they’ll also be waking at least once during the night.
From 6 to 12 months, most babies are still having at least one daytime nap. Their longest sleep is at night time, though. One in ten babies are waking up several times in the night and 30 percent of parents say night time sleeping is problematic and their babies are wakeful.
