Hilary Duff’s baby Banks has her ears pierced and people aren’t happy
Hilary Duff has posted a picture on Instagram, showing her baby girl’s pierced ears, but not all her fans approve.
Hilary Duff recently posted a photo of herself on Instagram with her beautiful eight-month daughter, Banks. While it’s a stunning mother and daughter pic, it shows quite clearly that Hilary has pierced her baby’s ears. Hilary later confirmed that she had indeed pierced Banks’ ears by posting a gorgeous shot on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “She has enough hair for a pony! Oh and yes we pierced her ears.”
How could you?
While every mum makes her own choices, there has been a mixed response to the post with many followers clearly outraged by Hilary’s decision.
One follower doesn’t hold back about how she feels, saying, “Causing unnecessary pain that isn’t for medical reasons done by a fully qualified medical professional is child abuse in my eyes.”
She also says that “the risks are unreal and that throbbing pain in her ears no matter how happy and looked after your child is, just isn’t justified in my eyes.”
Each to their own
Others were quick to tell this follower that perhaps she’s being a little judgemental with comments such as, “Don’t a pull a muscle from all that reaching you are doing”. Another said, “Good thing it’s not your child or your choice”, while another made the comment, “How about you harness all that energy into something that concerns you.”
Taking unnecessary risks
Ear piercing is a subject on which many parents disagree. According to the Mayo Clinic, you have to be careful to avoid complications such as infections or skin allergies caused by the jewellery. However, by taking proper care and safety precautions, this can be avoided. And in the end, each parent makes their own decision which is no one else’s business.
Most of Hilary’s followers made favourable comments about the photo saying it was cute, sweet and beautiful. However, for another, it was a deal breaker. “Just won an unfollow after seeing you pierced her ears, poor baby. Bye.”
