The palace confirms some very big news about Princess Charlotte

When the royal family released some photos and video of the Cambridge children recently, there was much chatter about how much Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had grown up.

Growing up fast

Because we only catch intermittent glimpses of the littlest royals, they appear to jump from milestone to milestone at breakneck speed. Prince George was captured at his curious, chatty best. Prince Louis was seen in the photos toddling towards the camera, not an infant anymore. And Princess Charlotte had morphed from adorable pre-schooler to confident little girl, seemingly overnight!

Of course, this makes complete sense because Charlotte is now four years old and it’s been confirmed that she will start school in a few short months. While she’s currently attending Willcocks Nursery School near the family’s home at Kensington Palace, the school run will be simplified come September.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie just confirmed Kensington Palace’s statement about Charlotte’s big news via Twitter.

“Princess Charlotte will join Prince George at Thomas’s Battersea School from September this year, Kensington Palace has announced. Principal Simon O’Malley says: ‘We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.'”

Prince George started at Thomas’s in September on 2017 and we’re guessing young Louis will turn up for his first day in September of 2022. #gasp

Life at St Thomas’s

What do we know about Thomas’s Battersea School? Well quite a bit, actually!

The little students at George’s current (and Charlotte’s future) school learn ballet in a state-of-the-art ballet studio. They play in a secure rooftop playground away from prying eyes, or in nearby parklands if they’re doing sporty things. The school rolls out the usual lessons as well as subjects that focus on ‘understanding the world’, ‘expressive arts and design’ and ‘communication and language’.

Term fees are a tick under $13,000.

No salad rolls for the royal kiddos and their classmates. Instead, they might chow down on “turkey and ham pie served with steamed broccoli and cauliflower and diced potatoes. For fish lovers, students can enjoy smoked mackerel on a bed of puy lentils, while a chickpea, spinach and sweet potato curry is on offer for vegetarians. Students can also tuck into a bowl of soup with fresh bread or the salad bar available on a daily basis.”

Kate and William take turns dropping off at the school and are said to be very friendly.

“William particularly loves to have a chat with some of the other parents and he works out with some of the mums at the Harbour Club after drop off. He’s very chatty and amiable.”

Because of COURSE he is! #DadLife

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share some new photographs of their family as they visited the RHS Back to Nature Garden at the #ChelseaFlowerShow on Sunday afternoon. The photographs were taken by @mattporteous. The #RHSChelsea Back to Nature Garden, designed by The Duchess and award-winning landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White of Davies White Landscape Architects, is a woodland setting for families and communities to come together and connect with nature. Her Royal Highness is a strong advocate for the proven benefits the outdoors has on physical and mental health, and the positive impact that nature and the environment can have on childhood development in particular. Over the past months, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate @The_RHS Back to Nature Garden. Hazel sticks collected by the family were also used to make the garden’s den. The Duchess told Monty Don in an interview for the BBC: “I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young children. I really hope that this woodland that we have created really inspires families, kids and communities to get outside, enjoy nature and the outdoors, and spend quality time together.”
