“No I haven’t swallowed a watermelon” – Singer Natalie Imbruglia is pregnant
Natalie Imbruglia has tucked an unexpected pregnancy reveal into a new album announcement on Instagram – and the surprise news has been met with much delight.
“I’m expecting my first child”
Natalie posted about her new record deal with BMG yesterday and towards the end of the post, she noted that this was not the only big news in her life.
Sharing a photo of herself post-contract-signing and another of herself snuggling her second-trimester bump, she explained that her bub was due in the northern hemisphere’s Autumn. That’s in just a couple of months!
“No I haven’t swallowed a watermelon,” Natalie quipped on Insta. “I’m expecting my first child this Autumn.”
The Torn singer explained that she’s conceived via IVF with the help of a sperm donor.
“For those of you that know me, this has been something I have wanted for a very long time and I’m blessed that this is possible with the help of IVF and a sperm donor,” she continued.
“I won’t be saying anything more on that publicly. I’m so excited about this next adventure … a new album and I’m going to be a mum!”
(This “first child” reveal might just indicate there are more babies planned for the future, but we’re just guessing at that.)
“You’re gonna be an amazing mummy!”
What we do know is that Natalie’s thrilled to be pregnant at 44 – and some very high profile types are very excited about her news too.
Kylie Minogue posted a series of sparkly hearts on Instagram – “💖💖💖” in celebration.
“Love you, sister! Happy for you Xxx,” Laura Imbruglia declared. (“Love you so much sista,” Natalie wrote back.)
“Congratulations my love!” Spice Girl Mel C commented under Nat’s reveal. “Wonderful news all round. You’re gonna be an AMAZING Mummy and you’re already an AMAZING recording artist. Love ya.”
“SO HAPPY FOR YOU!” singer Sophie Ellis Bextor posted.
“Awwwww babe that’s gorgeous and amazing … loads of love,” UK Love Island host Caroline Flack gushed.
“Yay!!!!!! Congratulations,” actor Elizabeth Hurley wrote.
