Anne Hathaway has just announced her second pregnancy, and has opened up about her fertility struggles.

Not a straight line

Anne is mum to son Johnathon (Johnny, three) and announced she’s growing a sibling for him by sharing a sweet selfie of her bump to Instagram.

“It’s not for a movie” she began the caption.

Then in a heartfelt nod to those suffering conception woes, she writes:

“All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies,” she said. “Sending you extra love.”

We can assume that for Anne and her partner, Adam Shulman, the conception journey has not been easy, and even rocky.

A sibling for Johnny

It seems Anne has wanted to give Johnny a sibling for a while now with media outlets speculating (as they do) when this would be.

“Anne wants more kids,” E! News wrote in 2017.

“She wanted to wait until Jonathan was a little older before they started trying again. She wants Jonathan to have a sibling.”

It’s the simple things

For Anne, her definition of happiness has changed since becoming a mother in March 2016.

“I’m happy when things are simple,” she told Metro in an interview after Johnny’s birth.

“Since having a kid, I find it a lot easier to do that. The day begins with a checklist: Is he breathing? Is he healthy? Is he growing? Is he thriving? If I get four yeses it’s really hard to upset my day.”

Yup, that sounds about right.

Congratulations to Anne, Adam and little Johnny.

And we, along with Anne, also send our extra love to those struggling to conceive.
