Kate Hudson’s baby is here – and she’s sweetly named after her grandpa
Actor and activewear company CEO Kate Hudson and her musician partner, Danny Fujikawa, have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl. Yay!
Welcome baby Rani!
Kate revealed the baby’s birth on Instagram yesterday, revealing that she and Danny’s baby girl was born on Tuesday 2 October.
The pair have named their newborn Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.
“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor,” Kate posted in a series of birth announcement images captioned “She’s here”.
“Everyone is doing well and happy as can be,” she continued. “Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”
Three is the magic number
Kate was already mum to two boys – fourteen-year-old Ryder with The Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, and seven-year-old Bingham with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.
Earlier this year she’d spoken quite emotionally about wanting to have another baby, and a few short weeks later she’d announced her pregnancy, revealing that she’d been incredibly unwell with morning sickness but could not be more elated.

“I’d like to [have more kids]!” Kate said in an interview published in March. “I’m not done yet. A girl would be fun. We’ll see. We’ll see how many Danny wants.”
By April she was announcing her third pregnancy via a balloon-laden Instagram reveal.
“SURPRISE!” Kate posted. “If you’ve wondered why I’ve been so absent on my social channels it’s because I have never been more sick! It was the most sick first trimester of all my children. Boomerangs have made me nauseous, Superzoom is an easy way to have my head in the toilet, food Instagrams make me queasy and thinking too much about insta stories made me even more exhausted than I already had been.”
Danny and Kate have been together for coming up to two years, but have known each other for almost ten. In fact, Danny’s stepsisters are two of Kate’s very best friends so it looks like this baby is being welcomed into a very loving and wildly extended family.
Congrats Kate and Danny!
