70 brilliant baby names inspired by the Roaring Twenties
If you’ve seen films like The Great Gatsby or The Newton boys, you’ll know that the Roaring Twenties was a time for having fun, spending money, dancing and wearing amazing clothes.
This was also a time when traditional moral standards were being rejected and replaced with new styles and beliefs.
The top baby names, according to Social Security card applications for births that occurred in the United States, from this era may come off a little old-fashioned (my mum’s first AND middle name is in the top 35 girl names) but you’ll notice that so many of them can be shortened into cute little names suited for babies born these days. And if your child wants to change things up as they get older, you can call them by their full name. Think Maggie for Margaret or Evie for Evelyn. Billy for William and Tom for Thomas.
Royal babies
While you might recognise your mum or dad’s names in these lists, you’ll also notice the Royal theme, especially among the boys’ names. William and Harry are featured in the top 25 names, and with George and Louis high on the list too. If you want to give your baby a 1920s name, you’d better get in fast before the next royal baby nabs one of these cute names.
