Prince George just helped his teacher find true love (and get engaged!)

This week it’s been revealed that young Prince George was pretty much responsible for one of his teachers getting engaged. And Princess Charlotte has a cute connection to this romantic pairing too!

The tiny matchmakers

Lucy Lanigan-O’Keeffe is the assistant head teacher at Thomas’s Battersea School in London, where George has been going to school for the last couple of years. (Charlotte is set to join her brother there in September.)

Lucy just got engaged to a gent called Thomas van Straubenzee. Thomas is Prince William’s dear friend, close enough in fact to be Princess Charlotte’s godfather (and possibly set to become Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s son Archie’s godfather, although there’s no actual confirmation on that yet.)

Official word is that Lucy and Thomas met through “a mutual friend” a year ago. It’s all a bit hush-hush, but basically people think that’s either William or Kate. Or both. Or maybe Harry.

Whomever it was, it never would have happened if George had not had such a nice teacher.

Charlotte’s godfather – aka Thomas – is described as a property mogul while George’s teacher specialises in outdoor education and mindfulness.

Old family friend meets new teacher

Thomas and his brother Charlie have been friends with Harry and William since they were all in primary school. Charlie and Thomas acted as ushers at Harry’s wedding last year, and Charlie apparently gave a speech.

It’s being reported that William will be an usher at Thomas and Lucy’s nuptials, and that those little wedding pros Charlotte and George will don their sashes and flower garlands and knickerbockers as bridesmaid and pageboy. We can’t wait for those photos. #NeverEnoughKnickerbockers

Incidentally, it’s not the first time a teacher type has married into a royal family. Princess Diana was a nursery teacher’s assistant at the Young England School (which is a kindergarten) when she first became engaged to Prince Charles.

Congrats to Lucy and Thomas (below) – and well done Prince George!
