The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Serena Williams’ 19-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia, looks set to follow in her famous mum’s footsteps if this latest video is anything to go by.

“History in the making”

The tennis champ took to Instagram to share her daughter’s “skills”, showing the adorable toddler twirling a tennis racquet before throwing it on the floor and running to a closet to get another, and then doing it again.

“History in the making….” Serena captioned the clip.

“Already better than me”

Serena’s husband and Alexis’ father, Alexis Ohanian, seemed pretty impressed with his daughter’s skills, “Smash that racket, babygirl!”, he wrote.

A number of Serena’s A-list pals also commented on the post, including Olivia Wilde who wrote, “Already better than me,” Justin Timberlake said, “Uh oh!!!” and Chelsea Handler, who added, “This is ridiculous. Now, she’s going to start kicking ass on the court before she can talk?”

Serena recently opened up about her “ball of energy” daughter, telling Good Housekeeping, “she loves to dance.”

“It’s her favourite thing. It’s my favourite thing, too. She loves running. She’s experimenting with sprinting, I like to say. She loves being crazy and wild. … I think ‘wild’ has a negative connotation. But I don’t think it should be a bad word in terms of babies. It should be more like curious, exploring or excited. Babies are so innocent.”

“Don’t expect to be perfect”

The Tennis champion has been open and honest about her motherhood journey, and speaking to E! News earlier this month, Serena says her advice to other new mums is to “accept mistakes and don’t expect to be perfect.”

“We put so much pressure on ourselves. My friend is pregnant, and she was like, ‘My kid’s gonna do this,’ [and] I just looked at her, like, ‘No, she’s not.’ … She was like, ‘I need to talk to you about tips,’ because, yes, I had all of those high expectations.”

We wonder if that “friend” she was referring to is Meghan Markle?

“She’ll be the best mum, for sure,” Serena said when asked about her royal pal.
