Jessica Simpson is having some relatable feelings about her son’s ‘big boy’ haircut – and being very pregnant is possibly not helping the v. emoshe vibes!
Long hair, don’t care
Jessica is mum to Ace and a six-year-old daughter Maxwell, with husband Eric Johnson. She’s also one of many celebrity parents – Kourtney Kardashian and Justin Timberlake among them – who have come under fire from internet trolls because … their little boys have cute long hair! #WaitWhat?
Obviously Jess loved five-year-old Ace’s long-ish locks, but it was perhaps reaching the point where her little guy was completely over his hair hanging in his face.
A shorter haircut was promptly arranged and Jess – who is expecting a third child any second now – shared the cute results in a series of shots on Instagram … along with some very big feels.
“He really wanted short hair. It broke my heart a little, but we did it!! My little man,” Jess captioned one photo of Ace looking utterly stoked.

“Thank God you finally cut his hair”
While Jess is still coming to terms with Ace’s hair cut, lots of her followers felt it was long overdue. Those people figured that ‘long’ hair is for girls only and told her so in no uncertain terms.
“Hallelujah. I don’t know what’s with these celebrities wanting their boys to have long hair,” one follower posted.
“Thank God you finally cut his hair. He has better sense and knew best,” another posted.
“Great job for letting him decide”
But lots of other (sensible) people thought it was silly to imply that hair defined a child’s gender. They liked whatever Ace liked and congratulated Jess on letting him make his own choices about how he looks.
“I can’t stand people that act like boys can’t have long hair,” an Instagram follower wrote. “My boy came out the womb with long hair. He refuses to let me even trim it. And he’s the most handsome boy ever. Great job for letting him decide.”
“I loooooved his long hair,” another mum told Jess, “but I will say … when we cut our sons hair she he was little there was something about the way it opened up his little personality! I felt like I could see every expression better and his eyes were to bright! It also broke my heart because I think it made him age 5 years.”
“He can choose to have long hair or short hair or pink hair or blue hair,” one fan commented. “Kudos to momma Simpson for letting HIM express HIMSELF. No more toxic masculinity.”
Kudos to Mama Simpson indeed! It’s only hair, after all!
