“Huge problem” Jennifer Garner says her kids will NOT be allowed on Instagram
Actor Jennifer Garner entertains us with the likes of Pretend Cooking Show and life with her chickens on her Instagram account, but it turns out that she’s not keen for her own children to follow in her footsteps.
“Such a huge problem”
Jen’s just popped up on podcast, Next Question with Katie Couric, and she spoke a little more about life with her three children 13-year-old Violet, 10-year-old Seraphina and seven-year-old Samuel – and how she protects their privacy and wellbeing.
Jen – who was once married to fellow actor Ben Affleck – has managed to shield her kids from the nonsense that Hollywood stardom can bring partly by closely monitoring their internet usage.
Jen revealed that she’s forbidden her eldest child Violet from using Instagram because she feels that it’s a complication her daughter does not need in her life, and basically no good can come of it.
It’s likely she’ll do the same with her other kids because she’s concerned about the impact it can have on mental health.
“Without even having parents who are well-known, I worry about all kids having to deal with this new pressure,” Jen explained. “My daughter’s at an all-girl school, and it’s such a huge problem.”
Do as I say, not as I do?
That’s not to say that Violet hasn’t been lobbying her mum for her own account.
“She’ll occasionally talk to me about getting Instagram, and I can see why because I’m on there and it’s something kind of fun that I do, and I am modelling the opposite of what I want for her to do,” she pointed out.
“I just say, ‘When you can show me studies that say that teenage girls are happier using Instagram than not, then we can have the conversation. But everything you look at, I don’t see anything positive for you out there. You can look at mine when you want to, we can go over it together, but I just don’t see it,'” Jen explained.
