Mum-of-two Drew Barrymore just shared a simple and helpful crisis-averting tip on her Instagram account, and you might just want to bust it out and tame your own kiddo’s tantrums!

Get back to calm

Drew snaffled this advice from Instagram account Seedlings Group and she admitted this clever gang have been providing parenting inspiration to her since day dot.

“#accountsilove @seedlingsgroup – This was a great tip from them,” Drew posted. “The post said … Summer toddler tip: keep bubbles on hand. You cannot tantrum if you are breathing and you cannot blow bubbles without breathing. You can’t tantrum while smiling and you can’t catch bubbles without lots of smiles. Quick distraction to get back to calm.”

“These are the things I really needed”

Drew admitted simple-yet-practical tips like this are a godsend – and help to nicely refine her parenting tool kit.

“These are things I really needed as a new parent and I still marvel at them,” she posted. “I have worked with seedlings since my kids were born and still seek their advice regularly. They also make me feel not alone as a parent as well with relatable humour.”

But what is this Seedlings Group, you might be wondering. Well, they’re a group of child psychologists and child development experts that offer mums and dads science-based advice on raising kids. Sounds like a good bunch of people to have on tap.

PLUS … isn’t it nice to know that even famous people need a little boost from the professionals, from time to time?!

Pushing through the tough times

Drew is mum to two daughters; three-year-old Frankie and five-year-old Olive. She and the girls’ dad, Will Kopelman, married in 2014, then the couple divorced in 2016.

The pair remain firm friends and are co-parenting their cute girls in an inspiringly united way.

It hasn’t been easy, though, with Drew admitting she was in a very dark place post-split, before she made peace with her new single mum life and was able to move forward. She credits her kids with keeping her on track.

“They’ve made me such a calmer, better person,” Drew told Today earlier this year. “I’ll never take the tone with them of work is bad, my past it bad, life is bad. This is the adventure and journey we’re on, but you have to be nice, and safe.”
