Everything we know about Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s recent babymoon
As the birth of Baby Sussex draws closer, the royal parents-to-be have popped off on a secret ‘babymoon’. Here’s what we know:
- Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are expecting their first child this month
- Meghan and Harry are set to move from Kensington Palace to Windsor’s Frogmore Cottage
- The Sussexes announced they were expecting a baby back in October
Getting busy
Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have had a lot to squeeze in during the final weeks before their baby arrives.
Meghan had at least two baby showers to be part of – one in New York and one fan-initiated one online – as well as final touches on the renovations at their new home, Frogmore Cottage.
They also had their own Instagram account to launch now they’ve moved away from Kensington Palace and formed the new Sussex household, AND final preparations for their baby’s birth – be it near to their new home or at the more traditional royal birthing venue St Mary’s Hospital.
Now news has filtered out that the couple squeezed in one last couple trip before their baby girl? little one arrives.
Private digs in the country
Meghan and Harry just enjoyed a “three-night £33,000 babymoon,” UK newspaper The Sun reports. That’s a $60,000 spend in our local currency.
“They spent three nights at the Long Room of Heckfield Place country house in Hampshire. The apartment has its own dining room and two private terraces.”
Their room (pictured below) has its own fireplace and is the perfect spot for some private time together, as far as we’re concerned.
Heckfield Place says on Instagram that this “private apartment features vaulted ceilings, sitting and dining room, private terrace and balcony with breathtaking views of the lakes, gardens and surrounding countryside. “
The Georgian property includes various bar and restaurant options, a working farm, stables, a spa and is nestled on the edge of some very pretty woodland. #HowLovely

The calm before the storm
Of course, no move by this couple goes without scrutiny and Instagram was awash with criticism about what was seen as yet another lavish spend.
“Please tell me how that is low key? 40,000 pounds for 4 days? So wasteful!” one angry follower posted.
“Spoilt just the way she expects,” another wrote.
But honestly? This response seems unfair from where we stand. These two are about to face even more invasive scrutiny as they welcome their first child. Who can blame them for ducking out of the spotlight briefly before the thirst for news – and images of them as a family of three – reaches fever pitch?
Good on them for taking a restorative break.
