What do we know about Duchess Meghan’s second baby shower?

The Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a whirlwind trip to the US last month to celebrate the incoming royal bub with her close friends.

Second time around

Now she’s about to dive into her second baby shower, this time a sized-down version in the UK with her mum Doria Ragland in attendance.

Her US baby shower – which reportedly cost several hundred thousand dollars – gathered the likes of Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Abigail Spencer and the Duchess’ bestie Jessica Mulroney at a penthouse in New York City’s The Mark Hotel.

Meghan’s mum did not attend that party. In fact she was photographed going about her usual business in LA as her daughter trotted off to various lunches and dinners with pals on the other side of the country.

It’s now suspected that Doria was a no-show in New York because she’d been slated to head to London once the mum-to-be started maternity leave. This makes a lot of sense and we’re certain that she’ll instead turn up at the less Hollywood and much more royal baby shower in London.

A low-key reprise

Harper’s Bazaar report that Meg’s British baby shower will be a sedate and low-key affair with – hopefully – none of the paparazzi hoopla that the New York shower attracted. A handful of UK-based women who are close to the Duchess are expected to attend. We’re guessing Duchess Kate and Camilla are on that list. Victoria Beckham is also tipped to be on the guest list.

Reports coming out of the UK suggest that the shower will be held at Buckingham Palace because Meg and Harry’s new digs at Frogmore Cottage are not quite ready for them to move in. Kensington Palace is also a possibility, as is an external venue for some kind of swank high tea in a private room.

Time will no doubt tell.

Meanwhile, the royal baby is expected to turn up in April. Attention is now turning to the famous Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, although it’s not yet known if Meghan will have her baby there – as Kate and Princess Diana did – or will head to a different hospital. Or do something else altogether.

Stay tuned for news on that!
