Prince George and Princess Charlotte sneakily wave to crowds from Palace window

Posted in Family.

Britain is celebrating 100 years of the Royal Air Force and yesterday’s flyover – featuring 100 roaring aircraft – proved an exciting way to mark the occasion for two of the youngest royals.

Sneaking a royal peek

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were spotted at the window of Buckingham Palace with their nanny (and another royal staffer). They keenly observed the spectacle from the fanciest of locales, waving to spectators below as they took in the brilliant and colourful air show.

“Up to 100 aircraft flew over Buckingham Palace and the display clearly fascinated the youngsters, who looked up at the sky in awe,” Hello Magazine reports. “George, who wore a polo shirt, gave a little wave to the crowds and RAF personnel below while Charlotte, dressed in a blue frock, followed suit and cheekily stuck her tongue out.”

The older royals – the Queen, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince Andrew, Duchess Meghan, Prince Harry, Duchess Kate and Prince William – appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony, but it was George and Charlotte’s more covert appearance that stole the show.

Packed schedule

It’s been a big couple of days for the Royal Family, with baby Prince Louis christened on Tuesday and the RAF celebrations rolling out on Wednesday.

As Meghan and Harry headed off for an official visit to Ireland, the Cambridges (William and Kate) are readying themselves for George’s birthday. The little heir turns five on 22 July.

It’s not too late to send George a birthday card, and if you do you will almost certainly get a cheery reply from Kensington Palace. Social media is full of sweet snaps of correspondence the royals have written to well-wishers. Prince Louis’ birth and Charlotte’s birthday are just a couple of the occasions where royal watchers sent cards to the family – and received a very royal response.
