Little Jaden Wesley has entered the world at just 23 weeks gestation.

Weighing a mere 364 grams, or a little more than a packet of crumpets, he is about the same size as his dad’s hand.

Here’s how he’s doing.

A tiny fighter

Jaden was born July 11, four months before his November 6 due date.

His mum, Ellonn Smartt shared this eye-popping photo of her teeny son next to his dad’s hand, just to show how tiny he is. It’s amazing that she’s been able to.

“They said he wouldn’t survive”

When Ellonn’s waters broke at just 23 weeks, she was initially told that Jaden may not survive by doctors at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

“They said I was going to have to deliver in the next day or two and there was a good chance he wouldn’t survive,” she told TODAY Parents.

“That was the moment when I fell apart. I was heartbroken.”

Stronger by the day

But little Jaden is a fighter.

He was born via c-section and surprised everyone.

“His arms and toes were moving and he was trying to breathe on his own,” Smartt told TODAY Parents.

“He’s our little miracle.”

Since then Jaden has been feeding and putting on weight. He will stay in NICU until November 6, his original due date.

😊💙 Heyy Jaden!

I love you SO much

The experience of having a premature baby has brought Ellonn and her boyfriend and dad of her two sons, Nadroj Morrow, closer.

In a heartfelt Facebook tribute to her man, she wrote:

“I love you so much … You are so strong and I am so, so proud of you. You are our protector and have never left my side. This will be a long road for us but that’s okay. We are going to rock it out for our boys! 🦁💙 TEAMJADEN!!!”

Nadroj Morrow I love you so much. I know that god chose us specifically for Jaden. You are so strong and I am so, so…

Wowing doctors

In a GoFundMe page set up to help the family, it’s revealed that little Jaden (the post is sweetly written in the first person by him) has defied the odds.

“I’m already wowing the Doctors,” Jaden ‘says’.

“I’ve heard them use terms like ‘amazing’ and ‘remarkable’ to describe me so far – not bad for someone under one pound, huh?”

Not bad at all, Jaden – you gorgeous little crumpet baby.
