Duchess Kate shares her most cherished moments with George, Charlotte and Louis

The Duchess of Cambridge has shared some sweet details about the moments that matter most to her, noting that the simple things in life are often the best.

“Precious moments”

It’s Children’s Hospice Week in the UK and Duchess Kate is a Patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

Kate is currently on maternity leave, with Prince Louis just a few weeks old, and is unable to appear at events on the organisation’s behalf. What she did do, however, is write an open letter about the “remarkable and life-changing” work these services do, the brilliant children they support AND the family moments she treasures with her own children the most.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

Kate notes there’s a broader message about “precious moments” in the work being done and urges us all to draw closer.

“We can help them spread joy and positivity … encouraging everyone to make the most of moments that matter,” Kate wrote, noting the hospice service provides a “lifeline to children and families facing the unimaginable.”

“Simple family moments”

Kate wrote in her letter that being a mum, and being together as a family meant more to her than anything else.

“Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish,” the Duchess wrote.

It’s hard to imagine what life must be like behind closed doors for this family, or how they manage when they’re faced with lifelong scrutiny. That said it’s clear they make very sure their kids have lots of opportunities to lark about outdoors and spend time away from the cameras at some pretty fancy country homes.

Busy days for the monarchy

It’s been a very busy few months for the royal family, with Prince Philip’s surgery, the Queen’s 92nd birthday, Princess Charlotte starting nursery school, Prince Louis’ birth and Meghan and Harry’s wedding, so if you’ve lost track a little we’re here to catch you up!

The Queen has popped in on Prince Louis (again) making her the most energetic 92 year old we’ve ever heard of. Not only did she front up to watch Harry and Meghan – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – get married, she headed to the Chelsea Garden Show a couple of days later and then popped in to Kensington Palace to check on the most mini of the royals.

And speaking of Kensington Palace, it’s where Harry and Meghan are also now firmly ensconced. While some have been rudely speculating on when the new Duchess will be having her own mini royal, it’s clear she already has a gorgeous baby (a rescue beagle named Guy) – and the Queen loves him as well!

It’s a dog’s life!

Apparently in 2007, the Queen was the proud owner of  five corgis – named Monty, Emma, Linnet, Willow and Holly; five cocker spaniels – named Bisto, Oxo, Flash, Spick and Span; and four dorgis (dachshund-corgi crossbreeds) – named Cider, Berry, Vulcan and Candy. Obviously a few have passed along the way, and the queen stopped breeding corgis altogether in 2015 due to her own advancing age.

Her last surviving corgi, Willow, passed away last month aged 14 and she was left with just Vulcan and Candy. But then Guy showed up and the two have obviously become fast friends. Harry noted that the Queen’s dogs took to Meghan just as quickly when they met her.

“For 33 years, [I’ve been] barked at, and this one walks in, and absolutely nothing, just wagging tails.”
