First-born child truths that all parents will recognise

First in, best dressed?! For a little while, your first-born is a “temporary only child”. Then you have the bright idea or happy accident of growing your brood – and everything changes BIG TIME!

If you’re pondering the differences between your first-up kiddo and those that came afterwards, here are a few things to keep an eye out for. While they won’t apply to every family, these first-born trends endure:

Of course, this makes perfect sense, but there are studies to confirm what we probably already knew -

"We found that children of higher order of birth—that is, those born second, third or further on from the first child—receive less quality parental cognitive stimulation."

This shift apparently extends to when our kids are in-utero, even, with second and third pregnancies often necessarily being taken in their stride, rather than being spent pampering ourselves and our baby-to-be.
