Holidays with kids don’t always have to involve a resort pool, caravan park or kid’s club. Exposing young children to different cultures and people can really broaden their education and understanding of different societies – and you might learn a thing or two as well!

Here are Lonely Planet’s top 10 culture-rich travel destinations for 2018 that everyone in the family can enjoy.

3. Namibia, Africa

If you're keen to expose the kids to Southern Africa, Namibia is the perfect place to start. Etosha National Park boasts amazing wildlife safaris or you could check out the famous sand dunes at Sossusvlei or adrenaline sports in Swakopmund. There are lots of fantastic and affordable accommodation options, roads are well maintained and healthcare is good - just be mindful that if you have children under the age of 8 you may need some self drive safari options as most companies have a minimum age requirement.
