If there’s one thing that’s true about kids, it’s that they’ll often have hours more fun with the box a new toy comes in, than they do with the toy itself. And if you should happen to find yourself in possession of a big box, such as from a new fridge or TV, then you, my friend, have hit the jackpot for some simple crafty fun!
So don’t throw them out. From shoe boxes to huge boxes, we’ve found a bunch of fun crafts and activities that put those handy boxes to good use and keep the kiddos entertained for hours. Win win!

2. Box castle or fort
From simple to extravagant, large boxes can be transformed into magical fairy castles or forts to defend kingdoms! The sky is the limit with this fun activity – simply cut holes in a large box for windows and doors, or create a drawbridge for your little knight in shining armour to open and close, like this idea from Kat This Kat That (left), or you can add more boxes and really go to town like this cute example from Impressed Inc (right).
