New year, new life?! Marie Kondo caused a sensation with her popular KonMari method of decluttering homes, selling over 11 million books on this tidy subject. Now she’s hitting screens with a new feel-good Netflix show set to begin streaming very, very soon!

The life-changing magic of tidying up

If you’re surveying your home right now and wondering how it got so messed up, this news could not have come at a better time, amiright?

The other good news is that Marie’s brand new Tidying Up series looks utterly brilliant and may well be the New Year’s gift we didn’t know we needed.

The first trailer reveals that Tidying Up is jam-packed with nice people who are feeling weighed down by their lives. Then the buoyant Marie skips in to set things right.

A little bit like the transformative Queer Eye and a tiny bit like the decluttering segment on The Living Room that everyone loves, Marie’s approach seems kind, gentle and thoughtful with her ultimate goal to help create a light and joyful home for the subjects of each episode.

Does it spark joy?

“Does it spark joy?” Marie suggests her cluttered subjects ask themselves, and it seems to be the right question because we then see them getting their stuff – and lives – sorted out in ways that make sense to them.

The program is slated for a 1 January release, and we’re hoping this is a worldwide Netflix premiere. We can’t imagine why not because aren’t we all sweatily shoving stuff in donation bags as we sip icy Aperol Spritzes through the Summer months? I think the answer is yes!

We can’t wait to sit on the couch and have Marie merrily bounce her motivating and neat philosophy into our lives. Mark this brilliant binge watch on your calendar for New Year’s Day, everyone! It’s a decluttering and joy-sparking date!
