Bubble London June 2012 – Best of British homegrown fashion – Part Three
Here’s part three of our Bubble London coverage! Wow, Rachael has sure done a fantastic job of unearthing the very best finds at this prestigious trade show and you’ll find in this post, the winner of the Bubble London Stand Out Award.
Created by sisters and inspired by their Spanish mother, Elfie evokes an era when children were dressed to look their best. Mixing traditional elegance with casual accessories such as sparkly trainers for a more contemporary look, the collection features playful woollen jumpers, rompers, frilly shirts, pinafores and dungarees made to be passed down through generations.
Baberoo‘s hip socks are made with certified organic cotton and make those cute little baby feet look good enough to eat. Fun and practical, each gift box contains four pairs of fashion forward socks with anti-slid soles to help stabilise little feet. There is also an elastic band around the ankle to help socks stay on. Ranges include My First Clogs and Glittering Mary Janes.
Not many children’s designers can claim to have started work under Vivienne Westwood but Jessie and James have particularly impressive CVs. Jessie worked on Vivienne’s creative team as her Creative Head Pattern cutter and James as a menswear designer.
You can detect the designer background in their new and adventurous collection showcasing clever ways to cut clothes and designing garments in a playful humorous way. What started as a few little garments evolved into a whole collection that prompted them to take the plunge and launch Jessie and James. Made for boys and girls from three months to three years, we think these are clothes that parents will wish came in bigger sizes.
London-based children’s clothing brand Indikidual showcased its latest super cool unisex collection with even more cute and quirky pieces from the label. They also managed to bag themselves the Bubble Stand Out Award for June 2012 – what clever people! We told Babyologists about Indikidual in March.
Tom & Drew is a US line that previewed at Bubble. The range provides a unique take on the ‘All American’ boy and girl concept and creates preppy style clothes that kids and mums love with a wholesome but fashion forward look.
Native Belle draws the inspiration for it’s bold graphics and colours from West Indian culture. We equally adored the colourful bears and the glorious prints of the maxi dresses. The owner, Emily, is an alumni of the London College of Fashion and the range is all handmade in natural fabrics – what is there not to love?!
