Perhaps you remember that earlier this week we told you about poor Jessica Simpson’s pregnant ankles and feet?
A very puffy situation
Jess is expecting baby number three and was keen to relieve her swollen tootsies. She shared a photo of her puffy situation and chatted to followers on Instagram about possible remedies.
Followers were concerned Jess might have pre-eclampsia, a pregnancy condition that can be incredibly serious.

MORE Pregnancy Health
“I had that and much worse!” one fan posted. “Please see a doctor, I had pre-eclampsia which was missed by my ob and turned into full blown eclampsia after birth.”
As many as one in 10 mums-to-be are said to suffer from pre-eclampsia which can lead to high blood pressure, kidney dysfunction resulting in protein into the urine, swelling of hands, feet and face, and, in some cases, dizziness, headaches and visual disturbances. In severe cases, it can cause heart problems or be fatal to mother or baby.
It’s unclear if Jess does have pre-eclampsia, but what is clear is that she listened to some of her followers’ remedy ideas – and acted quickly to garner some relief.

A nice cup or two
One follower thought Chinese cupping would bring some relief, and Jess took the plunge sharing the evidence on Insta. She uploaded shots of her leg and foot undergoing the ancient treatment, and then one of the results noting she’d gone from “cankles” to “skankles” – skinny ankles.
Pros and cons
We have to say the difference is noticeable. Jess’s leg and foot went from being severely swollen to looking close-to-normal, give-or-take a baby on board.
“Cupping is the best!” one follower commented in solidarity.
“Cupping worked for my feet as well as elevation. If it works I say go for it,” another fan wrote.
“I am definitely going to try this bc I am 39 weeks pregnant and have cankles for days!” someone else posted. “I feel your pain Jessica! Thanks so much for cupping tip!”
“Get it checked out”
Cupping fans and benefits duly noted, we’re hoping Jess still headed off the doctor to ensure that pre-eclampsia is not causing this swelling. We aren’t the only ones …
“Jessica, I’m a nurse, your swelling may be a sign a preeclampsia,” one of many concerned followers posted. “Go to your OB doc and get it checked out.”
“My doctor actually kept telling me that my swelling was normal,” another worried party wrote. “I ended up developing severe preeclampsia/HELLP syndrome and ultimately TTP. My platelets crashed and I was in the hospital for six weeks. Extremely scary time. Every picture [Jess] posts of her feet makes me extremely nervous.”
Fingers crossed Jess is as well as can be expected at this late stage of her pregnancy.
