15 things you should never do to your baby – despite what people tell you
When you have a baby or are expecting, parenting advice comes thick and fast from all directions whether you want it or not. Some of it is great but the rest can be down right dangerous!
We asked our readers for the most bonkers advice people have ever given them and what they dished out should absolutely be ignored.
Bonkers baby advice #1: Swaddle your baby's head
Apparently dressing your baby warmly and swaddling their body snugly is not good enough – according to some folks, the baby’s head also needs a nice wrap or they’ll get too cold.
Patricia shared this dangerous little gem: “I was told when i swaddled my newborn to also swaddle his head (as in wrap his head with the muslin wrap) because it gets cold at night.”
Er, no thanks! It is definitely NOT recommended to cover your baby’s head with their wrap. According to Red Nose Australia’s Safe Sleep Guidelines, it’s important to keep baby’s face and head uncovered when they are wrapped or swaddled.
