10 of the best baby blankets
The little people in my house are getting a bit too big for baby blankets these days, and I have to confess – I’m sad about it. There’s just something so delightful and cuddly about wrapping a baby or toddler in a gorgeous, fresh blanket and snuggling up with them. So I’ve been indulging my love of baby blankets by trawling through our archives, and hereby present to you Babyology’s best baby blankets!
If you’re chasing a blanket with that personal touch, then the personalised cotton blankets from The Knit Studio (top) are hard to go past. Based on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, these ones are homegrown and lovely to behold.
If you’re after something truly heirloom-worthy, the beautiful fabrics and classic neutral styles from Nuvola are just the thing. Ethically produced blankets in alpaca and even cashmere will make you want to sit and snuggle that baby the whole day long.
Crochet is cool again with O.B Designs’ Ripple Blanket, found at Mummy’s Little Essentials. A cotton and cashmere blend makes them super soft and keeps the pattern crisp at the same time. There are pink and blue palettes to choose from as well as this gorgeous rainbow blanket.
What about blankets for when you’re on the go? Where stroller blankets are concerned, you can’t go past the Nuddle. The plush double-sided fabric of the Nuddle even includes a generous foot pocket for keeping feet warm. With openings for a five point harness as well, you can be sure this is one blanket that won’t fall off during your expeditions.
The Blanket on the Go from Bella Bundles is another great option for trips out. This one attaches to your pram (or, in fact, anything) with tabs and snap fastenings, which means you can use it as a cosy nursing cover too, if you’re so inclined. It’s available in winter warmth or lightweight fabrics, in a great range of designs.
A gift worthy blanket if ever there was one, David Fussenegger blankets are absolutely divine and available in several unisex classic and contemporary designs.
Super soft Egyptian cotton is the order of the day on the delightful printed blankets from Mezoome Designs. These ones are competitively priced, and available with organic, lightweight and eco-responsible options. Best of all, if you love them as much as we do, there is a coordinating range of sleeping bags and stroller liners.
Don’t worry, all you Babyologists from warmer climes! We haven’t forgotten you – nobody should miss out on a gorgeous blanket just because they live somewhere a bit tropical. We love cotton blankets too! Especially these ones from Weegoamigo, mainly for their huge range of designs. They are double layered cotton knits, so actually, they’re still quite warm and you can even buy matching beanies.
The beautiful cotton blankets from Little Bonbon are reversible (two blankets in one!) and come in two sizes as well – a cot blanket and a slightly smaller baby blanket. You will melt when you see the gorgeous designs.
Always a Babyology favourite, I thought I would wrap up (pun intended!) with the modern and unisex tree design (below) from Jacob & Bonomi. Brushed cotton makes it extra soft on your baby’s skin, so this one is sure to become a family favourite for long beyond the baby years.
Now I know the post promised ten blankets, but no round up of baby blanket goodness can be truly complete without a mention of Uimi (below). This brilliant Melbourne-based company are always releasing new blanket collections, in line with the seasons, and we always love bringing them to you.
Would you like to revisit even more baby blanket goodness? There are so many more that couldn’t be included here. Take a look at our previous posts about blankets to see what we’ve loved over the past couple of years.
