Calling all baby bumps! Babyology wants all of you to share pictures of your bump with us. Let’s unite and show the world women come in all shapes and sizes, including when we’re growing a new human. We make this call after yet another mum was shamed when she proudly posted a photo of her blossoming baby bump.

Gold Coast fitness-fanatic and midwife Hannah Polites was met with a barrage of abusive comments after posting a photo to Instagram of her body in its third trimester.

Hotel room bump update! Almost 6 months carrying my little babe ??? For everyone asking, the gender is a surprise ??

Some told Hannah, “that is not healthy” and “I’m actually worried about the baby”, while one went so far as to say “you are killing your baby”.

But, for the record, the expectant mum tells the Gold Coast Bulletin doctors have assured her, “bub is healthy”.

“It’s truly shocking to read some of the comments regarding my health and that of my unborn baby, especially at a time where women are particularly vulnerable and can be more sensitive to bullying,” she says.

“I do not take the negative comments to heart, especially when I know I am making informed decisions when it comes to nutrition and exercise in pregnancy and motherhood.

“All women’s bodies should be celebrated, especially at a time of pregnancy.

“I will continue to post photos of my body as I feel that it’s important to be a positive role model in the community.

“My life can be confronting for women because it differs to their own choices, but this is who I am and everyone is welcome to share their own journeys.”

When it comes to mums-to-be and body shapes, people certainly like to have their say. Fitness model Chontel Duncan also copped criticism for the small size of her bump. Chontel yesterday posted a new picture on Instagram with her friend Nat showing off their two healthy, thriving babies, weeks after the pair had compared two very different bumps.

While Chontel was harassed for being too small while pregnant, plus-size model Tess Holliday was lambasted for being too big. The Duchess of Cambridge and our own Rebecca Judd have also been criticised when pregnant for the sizes of their pregnant bellies.

So today Babyology is taking a stand against bump shamer and is asking all of you to show us your bumps and we’ll present them here in a special post next week. Whether glowing or swollen, pointing up or down, big or small and everything in between, we want to celebrate your mummy-to-be shape.
