As the royal couple prepare to move away from their existing home at Kensington Palace – and welcome their first child – some other big changes are afoot.

At last!

As Harry and William split their households into two distinct entities, a surprise new account has popped up on social media.

The Sussex Royal account just turned up, cheered on by Kensington Palace, The Royal Family, Clarence House, the Duke of York and Princess Eugenie’s accounts.

In their first post, Meg and Harry greeted new fans – which number 1.5 million and rising – with a brief update on what they’ll share with royal fans. They posted a number of photos showing their time together – and apart – over the last year, with the promise of much, much more.

“Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.”- Harry & Meghan

Baby’s first Instagram

We’re guessing this account will be the very first to share news of the royal baby’s arrival later this month. There’s still lots of rumours swirling about how this might play out. It’s now being suggested that Meghan and Harry will head to a hospital closer to their new home in Windsor, rather than the traditional Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital where Kate and William and Prince Charles and Princess Diana all welcomed their kiddos.

It’s also thought that they might NOT debut their baby in front of the usual media circus, perhaps opting to release a more intimate photo of their family once their little one arrives. Of course, this is all speculation, and we’re sure to find out some more accurate details a little closer to Meg’s due date.

Because Harry will never be the King – as William and Charles will – it’s suggested that he has the freedom to keep Baby Sussex’s arrival a little more low key. Perhaps a cosy postpartum Instagram update might do the trick?!

An Instagram pro

This isn’t Meghan’s first rodeo when it comes to Instagram. She used to have her own very popular Instagram account, but shut it down ahead of her new role as wife to an English prince. You can see some of her reposted photos on this account.

Apparently Meg also had a secret account, started after she and Harry became engaged. She used it to interact with her close family and friends, but reports suggest that she closed that account down too after spotting some pretty nasty commentary about herself on the platform.

Prior to setting up this Sussex Family account, the royal family finally cracked down on Instagram trolls. They implemented a formal social media policy for those interacting with their accounts and revealed they would be banning followers who behaved inappropriately and reporting trolls to the police.

We’re so glad they’ve taken steps to protect the royals and those who follow them, shifting the tone in their comments section to a more positive one.

And not gonna lie, we can’t wait to see Baby Sussex pop up on Instagram. Only a few short weeks to go now!
