If you are a woman over 30, chances are you’ve been told you need to get a wriggle on if you want to have children. It’s equally possible that a man of the same age has never been told that.

Female fertility drops significantly after the age of 35, while it has been widely believed that men can continue fathering children well into their seventies (thank you, Mick Jagger).

But new research from Monash University has found that a man’s age also affects his fertility, and has an impact on the success of IVF treatment.

Professor Beverley Vollenhoven is a Monash IVF fertility specialist and co-author of the research.

Beverley debunks the myths around male fertility.
