Lynley Dodd: A life creating stories about clever dogs and sneaky cats

Once you start reading books to your kids, it doesn’t take long to discover your favourite authors.

Some books just stand out beyond the rest. It could be that the illustrations blow your mind, or that the words are fun to speak out loud.

Over the last 30 years, Dame Lynley Dodd has managed to create picture books with both of these qualities.

Her series featuring Hairy Maclary, Scarface Claw and Slinky Malinky have delighted readers, both young and old, for decades.

She talks about what inspired her to start writing picture books, and why the passion is in her still.
