If you have trouble sleeping (and it’s not due to a crying baby) chances are you’ve heard of melatonin as a drug. Melatonin is a hormone, but it’s also something some people take to help them sleep. Some parents are giving it to their children who find it difficult to nod off at night.

But is it safe? And should children be taking it? Dr Elysia Thornton-Benko is a GP. She talks to us about taking melatonin as a way to help you sleep.
